A 6 mile stretch of the US85 highway was under serious construction and after a sign that said "pavement ends" we drove on soft dirt very slowly. On the way home it had rained and this is what the truck and trailer looked like after the 6 miles. When we completed the 6 miles we pulled over to check our trailer and there was a couple who had just gone through on their motor bike pulling a trailer. They were covered from head to toe, front and back with mud, they had dumped their bike and bent the trailer hitch. We were so grateful that we had chosen to trailer our bikes!!!
A baby burrow was only a few hours old when we drove by, he was just learning to walk.
After Needles Highway we drove the wildlife loop. There are lots of friendly wild donkeys called burros. Marc was elated when we fed them apples. He was pretty nervous about letting them actually take the apple from his hand but very excited once they did!

The big monkey at the top collects water and dumps it out every 15 minutes. Marcus will tell you the "Monkey dump his water 2 times my up there"-he didn't like the monkey after the first dump caught him off guard in a torrential downpour. After he was safe in daddy's arms watching the monkey was a much better time!
Later on Wednesday afternoon we took Marcus to Watiki Water Park-This is Koko's Jungle-the kids portion of the water park. He went on a couple of big water slides with us and floated around the lazy river with daddy a few times too.
Back at the campsite after the train ride-Marcus fell asleep on the 20 minute drive back.
We rode in the Red Passenger car right behind the train on the way from Hill City to Keystone. The whistle was so loud Marc covered his ears on the way there. Then on the way back we were at the back of the train and the whistle was very quiet. I think this was a highlight for Marcus as he is still talking about the train ride and telling everyone about the red car, Thomas and his loud whistle.

Monday on the road we found a little 50's 60's diner and gas station-this golf cart was transformed into a speedster and Marc was very interested in it!
At Fudruckers for supper-eating out is so cheap in the States-3 meals at Fud's for less than $20!!
We stopped the bikes on the side of the road to talk about where we were going next. Marcus spotted this park across the street and wanted to go play- we stopped for a stretch and some time at the park.
At the Motorcycle shop in Rapid City where we bought a new back tire for my bike-Marc was thrilled that there was a Quad his size!
We stopped in Wiliston ND on the way there, this was the McDonald's play land-Marc had so much fun running out his energy and playing with new friends.
